In her time as a medic, she'd seen a lot of blood, but never from herself. And judging by the sheer amount she'd already lost, she'd be dead in a matter of minutes. In her final minutes of life, she was laying in a pool of her blood wondering if it was all worth giving her life.]

[Daken knew about death. He surrounded himself with it constantly, living off the sensation that came from knowing he had taken the life of someone else. When he knelt beside Haylie, one look told him everything he needed to know.
He didn't mince useless words, lying to her or trying to make light of the situation. There was a flicker of a soft emotion in his eyes, something close to sympathy but with a harder edge.
